A Short History:

WordPress.com, WP for short, was first made available to the public in 2005 on 21 November. It is based on the WordPress.org blogging platform and was initially only available via invitation. It has been confused with WordPress.org ever since its creation, even though the difference is great. WordPress.com has grown quite a bit since 2005, as it is now available to anyone, no invitation needed and it has been kept up to date by the amazing team behind the program, which has also grown quite a bit since then. The program has furthermore been banned in a few countries; as they believe in the freedom of speech which does not always sit well with others.

Is There a Money-Back Guarantee?

All WordPress plans have a 30-day money-back policy; however the same cannot be said for domains. If you would like to refund your domain, it will have to be done within 48 hours.

Scam or Not?

WordPress.com is most definitely not a scam. It has existed for more than 14 years and it has built up quite a reputation. Millions of people worldwide make use of the program and the WordPress team has always pursued perfection, correcting every mistake the program has ever had.

What About Support?

WP has a team of over 300 people that offer support in many ways including, community forums, life support, email, and even a call center which is only available in a few certain countries. Support/help can also be found in other ways, which include forums, online communities and so forth. They even have a page with the most frequently asked questions along with their answers, so one can get help fast, without having to wait on it.

Cons

Even though WP is a great platform, there are a few things to be aware of; such as the fact that no matter what, unless you choose WordPress VIP, all content belongs to them. Since your site is hosted on their servers, they have control over all content.

All plans have to be paid yearly, even though they provide the monthly cost.

Certain features are only allowed access to if certain plans are chosen, for instance; the Google Apps can only be accessed through the business plan.
